Women on the Tools launch event – Thursday 5th May

As you know, Women and Manual Trades is relaunching as Women on the Tools. Our relaunch event will be held on Thursday 5th May 2016, at the Royal Bank of Scotland HQ at 250 Bishopsgate in London from 5.30pm-7.30pm.

We will be using this occasion to set out an exciting new campaign, a fresh new image and new website. Just 1% of tradespeople today are women; Women on the Tools will focus on dramatically increasing this figure. In order to achieve this, we will:

  • deliver bespoke consultancy services, to help employers recruit and retain many more women on the tools as a response to the current serious skills shortage, and to achieve a better balance between men and women on the tools;
  • push for women on the tools to become the norm not the exception by providing advice and guidance to teachers in schools and colleges, employers in the construction and building trades, and through targeted campaigns designed to influence parents as well as policy-makers;
  • work with a range of local partners to grow the national network of tradeswomen, so that women on the tools around the UK can be in touch with each other, in touch with us, and in touch with people who want to engage with them.

Places are free but limited and must be booked in advance. To register, please click here
